Calla Cane is a full service design studio offering interior design, kitchen and bathroom design and construction management. We’re thoughtful about using environmentally and socially responsible products and curating an appreciation for the artisans behind them. We work transparently and execute projects within the budgets our clients provide.
As we guide you through this process, we listen a lot. From your design preferences and aesthetic to practical considerations for your space/lifestyle, we will deliver the strongest version of your vision for your home. We have experience with working with all kinds of specifications–kids, pets, minimalism, traditionalism, only vegan materials...you name it. We create beautiful spaces that support and celebrate how you live.
Furnishing
Our Furnishing services include everything needed to fully furnish your home. We will help you personalize your space by hand-selecting furniture, window treatments, art, and accessories. We provide you with a turn-key experience by managing all of the details so that you don't have to.
Design
Our Design services include the vision, drawings and materials needed to complete the interior of your home. We will work directly with you on spatial layouts, interior millwork and cabinetry, and materials. Collaborating with your architect and build team, we manage all of the details to ensure that there are no construction delays.
ARCHITECTURE
Our Architecture services include everything you need to build from the ground up. We will oversee the entire process and design team, collaborating with a contractor, landscaper and architect to ensure a seamless design from the inside out. This is a bigger conversation. As founder and creative director of the studio, Calla works closely with clients, managing creative direction, conceptual and design development. She also oversees and collaborates with an efficient, experienced team of highly specialized designers to create award-winning design solutions. Calla believes design is rooted in good composition and scale. She’s passionate about creating spaces perfectly tailored to clients’ lifestyle and that just feel good to spend time in.
Calla Cane McNamara’s design education started from a very young age. The daughter of architectural photographer Jeff McNamara, Calla grew up shadowing him on shoots for publications like Elle Decor, Luxe, Veranda, and The New York Times. These early first-hand experiences honed her natural grasp of light, color, and space, and exposed her to exceptional architecture and interior design and the people who create it — sources of inspiration to this day.
Calla got her start in the industry by working with architectural firms in New York City and Westport, Connecticut and as an independent interior designer. Calla’s drive to learn about design first hand influenced her decisions to join a construction firm where she acquired practical knowledge about the design and construction process. She worked hand in hand with carpenters onsite to develop millwork drawings and understand the cost and practicality of her designs.
Calla has a wide range of experience that allows her to capture a high level of design while maintaining a practical mindset around construction, timelines and liveability. She strives not just to provide a service; but to curate a journey from start to finish, that feels approachable and enjoyable.
